Unless you've been living in complete isolation lately, it's hard to miss the recent buzz surrounding Marc Marquez's move to Gresini Racing MotoGP™ in 2024. The eight-time World Champion and Repsol Honda officially announced their parting ways just a week ago. Just before the Indonesian GP, Marquez confirmed that he's making the switch to Ducati machinery for the 2024 season. As soon as this news broke, one of the most pressing questions on everyone's mind was who would take on the role of Crew Chief for the #93 in 2024.
Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long for an answer. Gresini Sporting Director, Michele Masini, has confirmed that Frankie Carchedi, a Crew Chief with a World Championship under his belt from 2020 with Joan Mir, will be teaming up with Marquez in 2024.
“I can confirm Frankie Carchedi will be Marc’s Crew Chief next season. We are still talking about the mechanics, but we will power up the team with one figure more,” Masini told MotoGP™ Pitlane reporter Jack Appleyard.
Carchedi is currently partnered with Fabio Di Giannantonio, who is enjoying a fine run of form, while he experienced plenty of success from his collaboration with Mir during his time at Suzuki, including a memorable title-winning campaign. With the news, another piece of the puzzle falls into place for Marquez, as he gets set to embark on a new adventure following an 11-year stint with Honda.
